✈️ One of the big reasons it’s going to be such a strong season is capacity. Airlines are gearing up with more flights and more seats to meet demand. Air New Zealand is adding over 130,000 extra seats between New Zealand and Australia, plus another 25,000 seats into the Pacific. Qantas is boosting its trans-Tasman schedule by up to 20% across December and January, adding around 60,000 extra seats. Overall, international airlines are planning more flights into New Zealand this summer than in the same season before COVID.
Every extra visitor means more flat whites poured in local cafés, more dinners served at family-run restaurants, more rooms filled in motels, and more adventures booked with tour operators who have weathered some of the toughest years in memory. Retailers, event venues, transport providers, and tourism operators of all kinds will feel the lift too.
